A deck can make a very nice addition to any Red
Hook real estate cottage out in the country. It's the perfect place
to sit and soak up the sun as you read, eat a dinner while enjoying the weather,
and take in the sunset. The type of deck you choose for your cottage will depend
on many factors, such as the style of your cottage. Here, we look at some of
the considerations common to all decks and how they can influence the type of
deck you want for your cottage.
Materials
Cottage decks probably will not see the same amount of use as Rockwood homes for sale will or even country
homes, simply because they are used during vacations only. This means that you
can use materials that are not as durable as those used in city deck building,
with one important caveat.
That caveat is the weather proofing of the deck material that you purchase
for your cottage. It you are looking to add a deck onto your Yorkville Toronto place
for example, then you had better select material that can stand up to a lot
of snow. You probably will trade the cottage for a Troncones Mexico rental condo or another
winter home, and that means a lot of snow build-up can occur. You don't
have to worry about buckling with a rock deck or one built right onto the ground,
but if you chose some weaker types of wood buckling can be a concern. Hardy
materials can address the issue; building your deck with cracks in between the
boards to run the snow through can also help.
Size
Much like the decks on central
Toronto homes, cottage decks are usually limited in scope due to size. A
cottage is meant to be a cozy place to vacation, so many cottages will have
smaller decks so as not to overpower the general atmosphere of the home and
the outdoor space. Of course, if you own a large cottage complete with a place
to store your design keel plans for your
sailboat this probably won't be an issue.
Regulations
Even cottage country is subject to some regulations, and you have to be careful
about what your neighbours think. Check out other decks in the area and find
out about any building codes before you get to work on building your deck.
